Not all CFLs Created Equal -Buy Smarter Bulbs to Light Up 2009

by DrG

Did you know that just by switching a light bulb you can save $80 - that how much a typical compact fluorescent lightbulb (CFL) saves over the course of its lifespan.  But as you can see in a previous blog entry CFLs contain mercury and that is an environmental issue if not properly recycled, and it becomes a personal health issue if you break a CFL around the house.  One way to cut back on this risk is by buying CFLs that are particularly low in mercury - I call them smart bulbs.  The Environmental Working Group website now lists CFLs that are low in mercury and last longer, saving the planet and your pocketbook in one easy step.  So, light up 2009 with CFLs and make them Smart Bulbs.
